in the now

Kiss me with sweet lips of summer
with the cold coast wind coming in
while the sounds of the trains
and the rhymes in their names
pinch the past between virtue and sin

Sleep deep in your dreams of the full moon
who purses blue lips at the tides
and laughs at our dance
full of fear and romance
that we think the hurricane hides

When all of this wild life has left me
I want to be buried at sea
with your hands in my hair
and love's peace in my stare
and your memory's book on my knee

So kiss me with sweet lips of summer
with the bird of your heart in your hands
give it up to love's flight
like a whisper at night
because that's what its nature demands
