Haven't heard a peep from the two referrals given me by The Shark, and it's been over a month. I'm seriously beginning to think that the people who read and liked NINE DAYS were just blowing smoke up my ass. The temptation to submit it someplace like Thomas & Mercer is strong... if they offered me a deal, maybe I could use *that* to hook an agent. Would that be so wrong?
Meanwhile, SOUTH OF NOWHERE continues to cook, albeit slowly. Had a plot epiphany the other night that could turn out to be just crap, but it got my interest going again. I think part of the slow-down on it (aside from being so busy with Paying Work that I barely have time to take a bath) has been that it wasn't going in a direction that looked very interesting, to me. I'll be the first to admit that I have kind of cheesy tastes in plot lines, and this new thing is probably cheesy as hell, but I won't know until I go there. Maybe it'll turn out to be good cheese. At least I won't be bored while I find out.
